I’m Dreaming of a Dorothy Draper Christmas

Christmas may be over, but I’m not ready to put away the decorations and lights yet!  While researching legendary decorator Dorothy Draper for my next blog post (stay tuned!) I stumbled upon this amazing feature @Style at Home.  They took her sentiment “decorating is fun!” to heart and translated her signature style into a holiday soiree with a mix of Dorothy’s go-to motifs, such as flowering chintzes, black and white stripes and a heaping dose of gold. I absolutely love these fun Hollywood glamour holiday ideas, and I plan to incorporate them next year!

For these holiday cards, Style at Home cut out blooms from cheery floral-patterned wallcoverings, layered them with stripes and borrowed the classic scroll design from the covers of Dorothy’s cherished books, Decorating Is Fun! and Entertaining Is Fun!

The table setting from Style at Home (above) reminded me of one of my favorite Pins…
I would also add a “Bubbly Bar” like 100 Layer Cake’s

And finally, here is a picture of the Greenbrier, Dorothy Draper’s masterpiece, decorated for Christmas. I absolutely cannot wait to visit the Greenbrier one day!!!

  1. Hoping you've made it to the Greenbrier by now! I live 2 hrs away and visit a couple of times a year- always a few days before Christmas. It is every bit as beautiful in person as in pictures.

Thank you for your lovely comments. They absolutely make my day!
