Chinoiserie Chic in Florida: The Powder Room

Beth from Chinoiserie Chic continues her virtual renovation of the amazing Chinese Village House in Coral Gables, Florida, and today she brings us the powder room.  This home is a tremendous opportunity for one lucky buyer, and if further temptation is needed, last week the price was reduced! I am surprised this magnificent home is still available, given the housing shortage here and across the country. Hopefully someone will scoop it up soon... the new owner will also have the added bonus of Beth's amazing inspiration boards!
The powder room in the Chinese Village House is very Palm Beach Chic. I have papered the walls in a favorite Chinoiserie wallpaper of mine, Masquerade by Thibaut. The floor is marble. I have converted a Dorothy Draper style chest into a vanity sink and had foo dog faucets custom made. A large window in the powder room has coral silk taffeta curtains. A black pagoda mirror hangs above the sink. The chandelier is by Marjorie Skouras. The hand towels are Leontine Linens with a Chinoiserie monogram. The garden stool is from the Lilly Pulitzer Home Collection. The Chinoiserie wastebasket is Marye-Kelley. Next week we makeover the backyard.

  1. I think that wallpaper would have allowed Oscar Wilde a few extra days of peace and tranquility. Housing shortage you say?!?! So I've heard at the very high end which I also take a great interest in-albeit from afar but on my end in Chicago & elsewhere it's a bloodbath and hopefully we've hit bottom.

    1. At the end of February 2013, nationwide inventory was at a 13-year low. While it picked up slightly in March, inventories are still 15% below their (already low) levels of a year ago… Perplexed about Chicago, I conducted a bit of research and learned that Illinois was one of only four states where home prices dropped in December. Hopefully y’all are on the rise!!

  2. Fun!
Wish the wallpaper was still available, always been a fav of mine. Foo dog faucet handles- oh yeah!!!

  3. Very unique and glam! So much to look at and take in all in the time it takes to be in the ladies room, haha! Very cool! Thanks for sharing!
