Over the past two months, Beth from Chinoiseric Chic has been providing a virtual renovation of an amazing and historic home in Coral Gables, Florida, noted as one of the most exotic examples of Oriental architecture in the United States. It has been such an honor to feature Beth’s incredible inspiration, and I could not have been more delighted to see Chinoiserie Chic and The Glam Pad both mentioned in an interview in the current issue of Lonny magazine!
For the Chinoiserie Chic in Florida series, Beth has provided inspiration boards for the entry, the dining room, the kitchen, the porch, a bedroom, the home office, the living room, and the master bedroom. Click here to learn more about this historic home and stay tuned as next week, Beth renovates the powder room!
The upstairs hallway and landing are dominated by the gorgeous red and white Chinese Chippendale fretwork banister and elaborate windows and loads of built-ins. I decided to let these take center stage. I have painted the walls a very soft blue gray. The built-ins will be a crisp white. The hardwood floors have been stained black ebony. The stairs have a runner of David Hick’s Wycombe and the landing a large zebra cowhide or two. Two magnificent Charles Edwards red pagoda lanterns take the place of the existing lighting. The bookcase is filled with a fantastic collection of blanc de Chine and books. Next week, the powder room.
