One Room Challenge Final Reveal

Welcome to my One Room Challenge powder room final reveal! I am delighted to be a linking participant in Linda at Calling it Home's six week challenge, and I have been so appreciative of all the encouraging comments and support you have all provided along the way. I couldn't have done it without my wonderful readers!!! To start at the beginning of this makeover, click here.

The crown jewel in this powder room absolutely is the "faux de Gournay" hand-painted silk Chinoiserie wallpaper I had commissioned in China by Silk Castle Trade and Industrial Company. I am delighted with it, and the cost is a fraction of what you would pay for de Gournay, Gracie, or Griffin & Wong. You can read all about the design and order process here

To put this makeover in perspective, here is what the powder room/cabana bath looked like when we first purchased our home... We gutted it (and the rest of the house) - a 1.5 year work in progress - but the cosmetics have all transpired within the last six weeks.

Yikes!!!

The other gem is this Sherle Wagner marble sink I scored on Craigslist Palm Beach for $250. This was the absolute deal of the century, considering retail is $22,176, plus tax! It is hand carved out of two solid pieces of marble, and it is truly a work of art. The carved bird mirror (which I DIY repainted) was also a Craigslist find. The gold-plated Sherle Wagner cherub faucet, vintage sconces and chandelier are from eBay. And I was able to zush it all up using treasures and trinkets found around our home... So I was able to create this room on a modest budget!

The William Yeoward crystal compote and vase were wedding gifts. I love to use disposable monogrammed guest towels in the powder room, and these are from Classic Impressions.

I adore Blvgari au thé blanc soap. It is so yummy and fragrant, it scents the entire room!

I have had this vintage mirrored French vanity for years... It has served numerous functions from vanity to nightstand, and now it is the perfect side table in this powder room! Room spray is Cire Trudon... I admit, I bought it for the glamorous packaging!

Lastly, you may recall that there were a few user error mistakes I made when placing the wallpaper order... Silk Castle has provided a lovely solution, free of charge (I only paid freight)! I was not able to get our wallpaper installer out in time, but I could not be more pleased with  Silk Castle's exquisite paper and impeccable customer service. So order with confidence!! I am actually having two more panels made to hang framed in our master bedroom. Stay tuned!

Thank you for following my One Room Challenge Journey! Now, thanks to Linda we have one (and only one) complete room in our home, which is still being renovated. Don't forget to check out the other incredibly talented linking participants, and the 20 official ORC participants, who revealed their amazing rooms yesterday.

  4. I hope you lock your home up nice and tight at night because if I could get in there I would be taking a bunch of stuff with me - those cherub faucets would be coming, those scones - gone, the marble sink (with the help of six large muscular men) gone. I really love this room - I could wash my hands forever. You did a fabulous job!!
