Today,Beth from Chinoiserie Chic concludes our Chinese Village House virtual makeover series with the courtyard and front door. It has been such a privilege to partner with Beth, who just celebrated her four year blog anniversary on Saturday.
One enters the Chinese Village House via a red and yellow Chinese fretwork gate that brings you into a courtyard with ten feet high walls leading to the house. The courtyard really lacks character. I would tear out the ugly painted concrete and patches of grass and put in a beautiful Moroccan tile floor. The high walls would be espaliered with lemons, oranges, wisteria and other beautiful vines. I would add a pair of red lacquered Chinese benches and several blue and white Chinese fishbowls filled with plants. I would also replace the existing pair of foo dogs with a larger, more elegant pair. This will also coordinate with what I chose for the backyard makeover. I hope you have enjoyed this virtual makeover of the Chinese Village House. I would love to see this house properly restored and decorated and brought back to life.
