‘Decorator’ Imogen Taylor photographed at home by Alun CallenderImogen Taylor is in her 90’s and a “decorator”. She started work at Colefax and Fowler in 1949 (http://www.colefax.com/) and retired after 50 years there in 1999. When John Fowler retired in 1971 he passed on to her all of his clients who ranged from HM the Queen to Duchesses and film stars. She became one of the most prominent interior decorators of the latter half of the 20th Century. She has a book coming out called On the Fringe which is a chronicle of the 20th Century decorative scene and the changing social world.
