So happy this house wasn't pulled down. I'm sure they will get their price because it's such a famous house, but it seems like an awful lot of money. Luxury home sales are down in the Hamptons. They are starting to head our way, in the Hudson Valley, malheureusement. The Hamptonization of Hudson is something that sends a shiver down our spine. But I am sure whoever acquires this lovely home will enjoy it. I just hope they don't dumb it down with modern, minimalist interiors, which would be totally wrong for this house.
Seems like a great price for such an iconic and well located property! Side note to Cynthia, our friend Michael Devine from Kinderhook, NY was just here signing his book An Invitation to the Garden (Rizzoli)- Dean
I hope whoever buys it respects the character of the place and doesn't ruin it. It's such an iconic house. The Bradlees did a wonderful job restoring it while maintaining its personality and history.
In an article I read many years ago about this housewas ,that Sally Quinn wanted to restore it to its glory. Also she found a treasure trove of furniture and wicker furniture used back in summer estate. I see in the photos many wicker pieces probably found in the attic .
Hey,
This property looks absolutely amazing. Listing price might be a bit out of my reach but I found it really inspirational to read this post. I have set my eyes on a location close to the shore just like this one.
Thanks for the quick read!

Dean, I read your blog, and yes, how exciting that someone from here just came out with a nice garden book. Thanks for reminding me.
What a beautiful property. So happy it was restored. The new owner will be very fortunate.
Great.
