I remember this article. I’m glad they did the necessary exterior restorations. By and large, it is beautiful, and the decor is traditional. But I had to object to the office building appearance of the glassed in spaces, and the fact that they wanted “open plan.” Open plan is something that is now past, thank goodness. People finally came to their senses. It isn’t attractive or practical. The good news is that they can put the wall back where it was, and maybe they already have since 2015.
A lot of friends are realtors, and they tell me that what people want now are his and hers bedrooms. Yup, that’s right. People want to sleep apart and have their own spaces. It used to be that way always among the wealthy in the 19th century, and it’s probably a marriage saver. I know that if I ever marry again, it would only be if I could keep my personal space. Divorces start in the bedroom.
