With offices in Palm Beach and Nassau, designer Amanda Lindroth has mastered tropical chic style. I have written about her numerous times over the years, and I was delighted to receive an advance copy of her delightful new book Island Hopping, described by Veranda as “A portrait of modern-day life in the tropics that rivals the enchantment of Slim Aaron’s photographs of glamorous island life in the 1950s and ’60s.”
White duck, boldly colored fabrics in solids, stripes, and jaunty prints, rattan and cane seating, whitewashed or colorfully painted English case furniture, canopied beds, straw matting are some of the signature ingredients of an Amanda Lindroth interior. Her airy, relaxed, indoor-outdoor aesthetic—a hybrid that merges colonial and island influences—is apparent in every one of the 25 projects featured in Island Hopping. This book is the visual equivalent of an island getaway from its faux raffia-covered exterior to the photographs by Tria Giovan (also an island native) and charming illustrations by Aldous Bertram who decorated the living room walls of Lindroth’s pied-à-terre in Palm Beach with masterful trompe l’oeil. Let’s take a look inside!

Lovely, feel like I’ve been island-hopping myself after viewing these photos. Great shell chairs in the dining room.
I second Tish Willis’ comment. Those shell chairs are divine. And I loved all the umbrellas.
Love how each interior has a colour that mirrors an exterior colour, such as the pink fabric that matches the pink flowering shrub in the distant view of first photo. A simple designer’s rule, but always effective. Lovely photos.
Love the chandelier! Love everything!
