Bunny Williams and John Rosselli and are no doubt one of the greatest power couples in the design world, and it was a delight to see their New York City apartments featured in the December 2019 issue of House Beautiful and the January 2020 issue of Architectural Digest. John, a legendary antiquarian and shopkeeper, keeps the most elegant “man cave” just a short walk from the couple’s Upper East Side apartment. Located in a 19th century building, John purchased the apartment on a whim, and it now serves as his personal retreat and guest house. It also helps keep his home with Bunny from being completely overrun with his tremendous collection of antiques. “Let your collections take over surfaces,” John advised in House Beautiful. “There may not be space, but you’ll be surrounded by inspiration.”
Architectural Digest features the new apartment of Bunny and John, located on an upper floor of the same 1920s French Gothic building the couple have called home for decades. They were ready for a move and wanted a little more space and light, so Bunny enjoyed transforming the new apartment, using the same belongings. “It was just fun to rehang all the pictures, add some new things, and change it up,” she told AD. “I can spend hours playing house.” Moldings were added to the formerly detail-free walls and an antique marble mantel went into the living room. She also took the opportunity to swap her sisal rugs for antique and new carpets. “I didn’t want to do sisal again,” she said… (and I can relate!)
Let’s first tour Bunny and John’s new apartment via Architectural Digest followed by John’s retreat from House Beautiful.
