Shelley Johnstone has the most beautiful backyard… truly an oasis! Inspired by her love of Capri and Palm Beach, this perfectly manicured acre of land, located in the Lake Forest suburb of Chicago, provides a vacation from daily life for her family of seven and their friends. “You know when you go to a hotel and the sheets and linens are beautiful? Why not create that same experience at home? Everyone is trying to escape the everyday, but I believe that hanging out at home should feel like being on a vacation,” Shelley said in the May issue of HouseBeautiful which features her backyard (not yet available online). It was also featured last week by Tory Daily where Shelley shared expert tips on summer entertaining that you will not want to miss! Photography by Cynthia Lynn.

Don’t forget the fresh fruit and flora — seen here with Tory’s Oiseau and lettuce ware plates, Mackie highball glasses and decorative leaf plates. Napkins here, similar here.

Love her place. Very inviting.
Lovely! Always a fan of nice tableware used in innovative ways. Also a fan of nice Italian cotton sheets …… mentioned in the beginning of the article. Am loving the caftan also!
Love the table linens!!! Gorgeous shade of pink. Wish they were available online.
I’m always surprised that people want their bedding to be like that in a hotel, regardless of how upscale. My sheets which I use at home are far nicer. What on earth are people putting on their beds at home?
The tableware is lovely. And they have a really beautiful place. Love the whole table set up 🙂
