Six years after decorating a mansion located in the River Oaks neighborhood of Houston, Texas, Miles Redd and partner David Kaihoi were commissioned to return and tackle the attic. Using their signature “more is more” philosophy, the designers created a guesthouse within a house… the perfect addition for a couple who love to entertain.
“It’s a riff on the madness of the 18th century and having all these different types of rooms,” Miles said. “The two bedrooms are nods to the English country house obsession with chinoiserie—like, if you have ever visited Chatsworth [in England], it is chinoiserie bedroom after chinoiserie bedroom.”
Let’s venture upstairs and take a peek! This story originally appeared in the April 2020 issue of Town & Country. Additional photography is from the Instagram account of @milesredd.

These rooms certainly make me smile! What an exuberance of color, texture and a bunch of great stuff…even the vintage phone matches the color scheme…I love Chinoiserie and have always felt it is not used enough….these two Gentlemen certainly did it right!
Wow! There is so much going on in these rooms- I love it!
The wall treatments here are fantastic. Are they papers or all custom paint? That hallway with the tented look – dreamy. And the colours! The aquas and turquoises are so beautiful. Guests here must be thrilled.
