According to interiors and textile designer Mally Skok, the only rules regarding creativity and the way you live your life is that there are no rules! “Make your own rules.  Please just listen to the voice that lives inside your brain,” she says in her recently released book, Mally’s Little Handbook: A Guide to finding Your Joy Through My Designer Eyes.

Originally from South Africa, Mally and her family moved in the mid 1990s from London to America where she launched her award-winning interior design business.  Mally’s global experiences helped train her eye and perfect her ability to transform homes into comfortable, colorful living spaces. She recently moved from the Boston area and established residency in Palm Beach where she has opened a new studio off of Worth Avenue.

Mally’s Little Handbook shares her secrets on how to develop “an eye,” by taking time to smell the roses and becoming a “noticer.” She writes, “So many people walk through life blind to the mysterious and fascinating world that surrounds them. You can change this!” From junk stores, flea markets, and supermarket flowers to becoming the hostess with the mostess, the book outlines Mally’s personal views of the world and how to apply them to loving your home and living your best life. “Take what you like, discard the rest, make it your own…” she shares.

Today, we are delighted to take a tour of Mally’s Cape Cod home that she and her husband built 25 years ago with architect Sally Weston.  “It has been a great joy in my life living in it, designing it,” she said. Inside you will see all of the tips Mally shares in her book come to life, a true reflection of her personal style and life story. “Be bold, be real, be yourself, and be happy and you, your house, and your guests will love you for it! trust me on this one!” she says.
