Located in Walland, Tennessee near the Great smoky Mountains National Park, Blackberry Farm is a renowned 4,200-acre luxury hotel and cottage retreat. The architecture firm of Spitzmiller and Norris recently completed a 19 plus year collaboration with Blackberry Farm after designing numerous renovations for the main house, boat house, various cottages and several private residences, including the home we are touring today! The architecture of the home was designed to pay tribute to Andrew Jackson’s Hermitage in Nashville. “Collected rather than decorated” is how Suzanne Kasler, the interior designer, described the overall look of the house. “There’s a feeling of legacy, of heritage, as if it’s always been there.” This article originally appeared in the November 2012 issue of Architectural Digest.
