Today we are touring two beautiful homes by the renowned architect Norman Askins, located in the mountains of Highlands, North Carolina. The first is a newly constructed English-inspired home Norman designed along with interior designer Carole Weaks. The second is a 1940s charmer that happens to be his very own cottage, as featured in Southern Living… It was in a state of disrepair when Norman found it but he and his wife, decorator Joane Askins, brought it back to life. Let’s start with the new build with images from Atlanta Homes & Lifestyles and Norman’s portfolio…
Next is the mountain cottage of Joane and Norman Askins, as featured by Southern Living…

Love his work. Thank you for sharing.
A joy to behold…pure perfection!
Because Highlands (our go-to place in the mountains) is high-end rustic, both of these homes fit seamlessly into the environment. Highlands is such a beautiful place, with friendly folks and great dining options. We love any chance we get to unwind in it’s peaceful atmosphere.
Classic perfection , inside and out! Wrap it up I’ll take it!!!
The powder room wallpaper in the first home was a color variant of one we used in the entrance of our Seattle home. Fun to see it again.
