Three years ago The Glam Pad had the privilege of featuring Julia Amory, Founder and CEO of India Amory, as she was launching her lifestyle and home goods brand. Julia developed the concept for her company in 2016 while searching for printed fabric to use for the tables at her wedding in Southampton, and she left a career in financial services to pursue her dream. Today she has nearly 60,000 followers on Instagram and a loyal clientele – including leading designers and tastemakers – who cannot get enough of her affordable and beautiful prints.
Creating a lifestyle brand was Julia’s destiny. Her stepgrandmother is Alexandra Stoddard, the celebrated lifestyle expert and author almost two dozen books including Creating a Beautiful Home and Living a Beautiful Life: 500 Ways to Add Elegance, Order, Beauty and Joy to Every Day of Your Life. And Julia’s husband, Minot, is the great nephew of the late Lilly Pulitzer. Julia, Minot, daughter Honor, and their two dogs split their time between New York City and the Hamptons, and today I am delighted to share a tour of the Amory’s Hamptons home… Let’s step inside with images from Instagram and additional photography provided by Julia.
Julia told The Glam Pad, “We freshened things up using much of what was already in place and didn’t change a lot of the furniture footprint. Wallpaper by Sanderson lightened and brightened, and I used lots of sage green throughout the house to keep things cohesive. Farrow and Ball Breakfast Room green on wicker was used to spruce some older pieces. All in all we’ve kept the character but made things perhaps a bit more feminine than it was before. My taste is very much influenced by my step grandmother Alexandra Stoddard whose Stonington CT cottage is the most beautiful seaside home i’ve ever seen. Mario Buatta and his seamless blending of storied antiques and feminine charm is also a huge influence on my aesthetic.”
Timeless, classic, and effortlessly beautiful! In addition to being a smart and savvy businesswoman, Julia also happens to be just as lovely on the inside as she is on the outside. It is easy to understand why she has been so successful in such a short period of time. You can read The Glam Pad’s Q&A from 2017 with Julia here.
India Amory offers dinner napkins, placemats, tablecloths, throw pillows, toiletry sets, dresses, kimonos, tops, and more. For ongoing inspiration, you will want to follow @indiaamory on Instagram, and I especially enjoy reading “The Block Print” tastemaker series on Julia’s blog.

Favorite. House. Ever!
Love her style, love her products. And she herself seems genuinely gracious and interesting.
Currently awaiting my latest IA purchase.
Thank you, Andrea, for another great post!!!
Her prints are gorgeous. I also love her dress at the end.
Heavenly!
Now this is lovely—but in real life she surely would not allow a dog to rest on her white sofa like that. One rest by a dog on an uncovered couch and it’s a mess! Maybe for a photo shoot, but in real life in one has a dog, one must have dog throws that extends even across the entire couch. I just got a love seat and I had a beautiful cover, then another cover. Darn if one of our little dogs didn’t discover this place. So, I had to create another cover for the cover (as they are all lovely). I told myself, I will not go up to four covers (including slipcovers and throws). My dog covers are as chic as the couches themselves. Whenever I see a dog in a photo resting like that, I kind of think it is a bit of unreality thrown in. I guess this is why I like Bunny Williams who is very honest about the reality of living with dogs and what that entails.
Hi Sigrid,
Custom covers are such a chic idea… I learned about this from Carolyne Roehm in “At Home with Designers and their Dogs” and thought it was brilliant! Did you notice the quilts Julia has on her sofas for her doggies? So beautiful, I love that idea too! However, I have a feeling Gracie, Julia’s English cream dachshund (nicknamed “Le Rat”) comes and goes as she pleases… Fortunately Dachshunds are a low shedding breed! 🙂
Xx,
Andrea
