The late Mario Buatta once described designer Alex Papachristidis as “one of today’s eminent tastemakers. Known for arresting, elegant interiors that meld classical motifs with a modern perspective and sophisticated details,” and Alex’s pre-war New York City apartment is the perfect example of his gracious and elegant style. With spectacular views of Central Park and a prime location close to family, Alex and his partner Scott Nelson purchased the apartment in poor condition. They spent the next 14 months transforming a diamond in the rough into a fantasy jewel box oasis.
“The goal [of the renovations] was to refine the proportions of the space and give it an open feeling… It was really about creating classic spaces that worked for us and how we would use them,” Alex told One Kings Lane. “I love the idea of taking beautiful classical elements and using them in a modern way.”
