When a Connecticut family relocated from Greenwich to New Canaan, they had to pare down years of acquired furniture and antiques. Their new home, designed by architect Alex Kaali-Nagy, was filled with large light-streaming windows, which limited wall space and required a less-is-more approach. Fortunately, interior designer Amy Aidinis Hirsch was up for the task. “My job was to take the existing furniture and items that meant the most and tell their story,” she told New England Home magazine. Inspired by New England’s historic houses, Kaali-Nagy designed the home with classic proportions and classic details. People often mistake the structure for an old house, which is the ultimate compliment. The result is a home that highlights the owners’ fondest memories, serving as the perfect respite and backdrop for entertaining. Let’s take a tour with photography by Michael Partenio for New England Home…

Love seeing green used as a predominate accent color in a sea of neutrals – just so beautiful and soothing. IMO, green is a terribly underused color in interiors.
