I must admit, I do miss my jaunts to Palm Beach now that we are back in Dallas, but hopefully soon we will all get to start traveling again. Until then, let’s take a virtual trip and revisit a home Phoebe Howard designed for a couple of Midwestern snowbirds. You may remember this delightful abode from the February 2019 issue of Veranda, and today we will also enjoy additional images from Phoebe’s portfolio not included in the feature… This is Palm Beach Perfection!
Phoebe and her husband James Michael Howard (also an interior designer) live in Jacksonville, Florida, and Phoebe’s signature cheerful style attracted the homeowners. With the assistance of architect Roger Patton Janssen, the couple built their home on a property that was once part of an 1890 homestead. The style is contemporary Mediterranean, inspired by some of Palm Beach’s storied architects such as Addison Mizner and Marion Sims Wyeth.
The husband worked with art adviser Abigail Asher to create a collection of contemporary pieces for the home, and Phoebe designed the interiors to complement – not overpower – the art. With crisp navy and white as an anchor, the palette is inspired by the vibrant colors of Palm Beach,”the flora, the sea, the sky, the clothes that people are wearing,” Phoebe told Veranda. The result is a charming and welcoming winter home getaway.
A little slice of heaven! For more, please visit Veranda and www.phoebehoward.net.

What an incredibly happy house! Really lifts the spirits!
Love this serene home!
What cool design Howard employs! About to move to Florida shortly so some of this I shall attempt to emulate, especially the bedroom and baths. Thanks for sharing this house. S. Hatton
Hi Andrea, As a resident of Palm Beach County it’s always a delightful pleasure to see the specialized tropical interior designs you present…”thank you”!
Beautiful! I’d move right in 🙂 I’m from/live in Jacksonville and enjoy seeing the Howards’ work, it is always impeccable. Their shop at the beach is not to be missed!
Many times, the gorgeous places you visit are so out of my realm relative to cost or complexity. Today’s house seems completely possible for even an average person. Such a pleasant house. It brightened my spirits and truly inspired me. Thank you.
