Welcome to TGP Tidbits where we round up the happenings and our musings of the design industry each week. This week we are in floral paradise, pink velvet heaven and are ogling the society set. Written by Natalie Aldridge.
Pamala Munson x Schumacher
June 21st marked the official first day of the Summer season. I seem to find myself in the same conundrum each year when the weather warms up and I am ready for a wardrobe change. Both adverse to heat and a New Yorker, Summer tends to be a challenging sartorial time for me. Sandals and light dresses tend to fair poorly in the streets of Manhattan.
With enough New York Summers under my belt, I found the simplest way to work in classic summer colors, textures, and materials is through a swap of accessories. In an exciting partnership designer Pamala Munson and textile house Schumacher have released an exclusive collection of to-die-for straw minaudières with bold floral embroidery. Each clutch pattern draws inspiration from classic Schumacher floral prints making them an impeccable addition to a summer outfit.
These exquisite clutches are available now to shop. Wardrobe crisis averted!
In the same spirit of Summer and florals, The annual Newport Flower Show made a triumphant return over the past weekend. Under the theme of “Eden…A Personal Paradise”, the town’s grand Gilded Aged mansions were brimming with horticultural excellence and The Glam Pad could not help but take note. The Newport Flower Show works to raise funds for The Preservation Society of Newport County’s 88 acres of lush gardens and landscapes. Participants create cut flowers and creative garden displays ready for the public to take in.
Unlike other flower shows, The Newport Flower Show has the ornate backdrop of historic homes with unparalleled interiors. Like a perfect match, the adorned features of each room sublimely complement the sumptuous lines and inspiring colors of the flowers. It is no wonder the show draws such a crowd.

Sketch Auctions Their Iconic Pink Chairs
The iconic London restaurant Sketch has just received a facelift. Seeking to reimagine the main dining room known as “The Gallery,” the famed pink plushy seats have been replaced and sold at auction via 1st Dibs. With excitement high, only one chair remains on the lot!
Created in 2003 by Mourad Mazouz and Pierre Gagnaire, Sketch resides within the historic building of 9 Conduit Street, in Mayfair, London, and has become an institution for the who’s who of society.
Comprised of four dining rooms, a spaceship-inspired bar, and individual pod bathrooms, the restaurant has distinctive decor that offers dinners not only an experience of three Michelin star “New French” cuisine but a cultural experience similar to a museum. Since its opening, the restaurant has undergone numerous overhauls of the interiors. The ethos behind this is to keep the restaurant fascinating to its patrons becoming an ever-evolving entity, not simply a place to dine.
If a pink velveteen seat is in your future, hurry over to 1st Dibs! And we can certainly bask in the beauty of the newly unveiled interiors.
Society Steps Out
Tonight New York’s society set will be twirling in the newly renovated garden of the Morgan Library at the annual Mr. Morgan’s Summer Soirée. An unofficial kickoff to the summer social season, the glamours event is set in the historical home, library, and museum of J. Pierpont Morgan. Newly restored, the long-closed gardens of the library will make a society entrance once again. Party-goers will have the opportunity to mingle and laze about the gardens in full bloom.
This evening marks the first in-person Soirée since 2019 making it an even more special occasion to celebrate and dance the night away. Cheers!
