Pooky x Samuel & Sons, Insider Journeys by Frederic Magazine and Indagare, and Susan Alexandra for Anthropologie

Welcome to TGP Tidbits where we round up the happenings and our musings of the design industry each week. This week we take a look at Pooky x Samuel & Sons, Insider Journeys by Frederic Magazine and Indagare, and Susan Alexandra for Anthropologie. Written by Natalie Aldridge.

Pooky x Samuel & Sons

We have never been ones to shy away from a little passementerie. Often it is the icing on the cake. So naturally, the latest collaboration between British lighting favorite Pooky and legendary New York trimming house Samuel & Sons has caught has us extremely excited!

The two have joined forces on a wonderfully whimsical collection of thirteen lampshades, pendants, and flush mounts, all dressed up in Samuel & Sons trimmings. From jewel-toned pleated silk shades with gold linings to funky ikat pendants finished with hand-tied tassels, the collection is delightfully old school and playful.

The collaboration reportedly began over a cup of tea in Paris, with a simple creative directive to go wild. And we are so glad they did. We are particularly taken with the Margaux pleated silk shades and the charming Cretian Scallop collection. A little extra ornamentation never hurt! The full collection can be found here.

A Design Lover’s Mexico City

Mexico City is one of those places I could return to again and again and never tire of. It is such an extraordinary city that I feel in love with a few years ago on my first visit. It is a city so rich in history, architecture, art, and endless inspiration. While it may not be the first destination that comes to mind when one thinks of traditional design, it is steeped in history and beauty, from its grand colonial architecture and historic houses to its extraordinary decorative arts and craftsmanship. For those who have yet to experience its charms, or are simply looking for an excuse to return, this might be just the ticket.

Frederic Magazine has teamed up with luxury travel company Indagare to launch Insider Journeys, a new series of intimate, design-oriented trips giving travelers a rich look at the best each destination has to offer, including a peek behind many otherwise closed doors. The inaugural journey will take place in April 2027, with Frederic’s Eugenia Santiesteban Soto leading six days of architectural discoveries, private homes, art, and plenty of culture.

On the itinerary are works by Luis Barragán and Ricardo Legorreta, a spectacular private residence designed by Loyzaga Design and Miles Redd, and an after-hours visit to the Museo Tamayo. With Eugenia’s personal connections to Mexico City and Indagare’s expertise in creating extraordinary travel experiences, I can only imagine what a treat this will be. And what better way to experience a city so full of creative energy than with someone who knows it so well. More information on this trip can be found here.

Susan Alexandra for Anthropologie

New York-based designer Susan Alexandra, known for her wonderfully colorful and often delightfully kitschy beaded creations, has teamed up with Anthropologie for a holiday collection that is maximalist dream. Susan Alexandra for Anthropologie

The collection is full of charmingly little treasures, from beaded gingerbread houses and flying pig ornaments to cherry-covered wreaths, whimsical tree toppers, and even a gingerbread house tissue box. There are also embroidered pillows, sweet little trinket boxes, and a particularly amusing selection of menorahs, including one shaped like a bagel. It feels a little glam but also nostalgic.
