My Chic Nest

I cannot believe we are more than halfway through January! Did you make any New Year's resolutions? Mine is to finally get our home in order and to share pictures on this blog. After a grueling one-and-a-half year renovation, I have frankly been so burnt out on decorating that I needed a break. So slowly, I am getting back into the groove, and the house is coming along again.

One recent purchase we acquired this year is a new sectional for our family room. The one we had was in sad shape (left over from my husband's bachelor days) and the monstrous pleather beast did not fit in our family room at all. However, the problem was I could not find anything I liked to replace it! The biggest challenge was the size of our family room. It is on the small side, so a sectional is a perfect solution to maximize space. I searched high and low, yet I simply could not find anything that would work. I fell in love with this sumptuous velvet sofa created by Bailey from Peppermint Bliss, but it is custom and would cost a fortune to recreate. Enter My Chic Nest...

(This is actually a similar size and layout to our family room.)

My Chic Nest specializes in affordable Hollywood Regency furniture with 1920s style and flair that is right up my alley!  With a wide variety of furniture styles to choose from, you also select your fabric and color. It can be scary to order furniture online, but they made me feel so comfortable by answering a ton of questions and by sending sending fabric swatches and diagrams.

The sectional I chose is called the Kimmy. I selected "blue smoke" velvet, which is a forgiving navy blue that ties in with the blue and white accents in our adjacent kitchen. I wanted something durable that would be dog and child proof. So far so good with our two fur babies! Every piece is made to order, and I was even able to customize the dimensions so it fit perfectly into our cozy family room. Here it is!

I am still putting the final touches on styling this room. Here is my inspiration board...
I have been eyeing these Chinese porcelain giclees from The Pink Pagoda forever, and I think they would be perfect above the sectional. I just ordered the blue and white pillows from Target! White marble Saarinen tulip tables can be purchased here. I think these accents will tie in nicely with The Vase by David Hicks for Clarence House fabric we used for our valance and kitchen table chairs....

Blue and white Ming dragon planters also from The Pink Pagoda!

More to come. In the meantime, you can follow me on Instagram for additional sneak peeks... I promise to post a home tour on the blog soon! Also, make sure to head over to My Chic Nest for your glamorous home furnishing needs. Shipping is always free, and everything is currently 10% off with code CHIC321.

And on a final note, since I brought up New Year's resolutions... have you seen this new Fitbit from Tory Burch? I think this just the inspiration I need to help me exercise more in 2015!

    1. Thank you so much, Marty!! :) And we absolutely LOVE our dining room!!! We had a crisis with the art in the room (it fell down and the frame and glass were destroyed) so there has been a delay in posting images until I can get that situation worked out. I do have a few sneak peeks on my Instagram page... We get a ton of compliments on the Brazillance wallpaper, and it is just so happy and cheerful! Go for it, I highly recommend it!!

Thank you again for your kind words!

      XOXO,
      Andrea

    Hi Andrea,
I am in the process of redecorating as well. I love your blog and all things Palm Beach Regency. Would you mind sharing where you bought your kitchen chairs?

    1. Hi Nancy,

Thank you so much for your kind note! The chairs are vintage... I found them on Craigslist for a song and had them painted and recovered.

      XOXO,
      Andrea

  9. Wow can I just say that I love your living room! The couch is the perfect choice and everything goes so well together! I love to decorate but I am not the best planner. I always find myself shopping and buying the things that look cute and then realizing that they have no place in my home. But I do strongly believe that a clean, pretty, organized home is a great way to create a sense of belonging and peace. How do you create that peace?
