The other day a friend and I were discussing how much we love Delft tile, particularly in the kitchen. It is such a timeless and classic look… Trends may come and go, but I will always love a classic white kitchen with blue accents for a pop of color. A few of my favorite inspirational images are below…

Our current kitchen has all marble countertops and backsplash, but I would definitely consider a Delft tile backsplash in a future home. What do you think of this look? For 25 more classic white kitchens with blue accents, please click here.

You must be reading my mind. I have been searching high and low for delft tile inspiration. I loooove the hominess that adding a delft backsplash gives. And I think it pairs quite nicely with lots of other accent colors. You could easily add green, yellow, orange, pink or red beautifully. Even other shades of blue look great. Yours if my favorite blog. Thank you for such amazing inspiration.
Delf tile anywhere is beautiful. It had been a dream of mine for many years to go to Delf and it finally happened ten years ago. I was like a kid in a candy shop and started picking up piece after piece to send home. Finally the man said “Aren’t you going to ask the price of these pieces”. And without thinking I said no, because I’m going to have them anyway. That’s when he stopped followering me around and started a price list. I didn’t intent to sound so haughty. Well after I finished shopping and went to pay for my choices he began to explain the history behind each piece. I was astounded at the price but said not a word because I indeed was going to buy them no matter what he said the cost would be because it had been my dream all those years ago to go there and have them in my home. Sometimes I embarrass myself. Anyway, he shipped the Delf to me and I have loved seeing it every day.
What a fun story! And you will enjoy it forever! 🙂

Beautiful,beautiful kitchens!!!!
Yes, a Delft backsplash for me, please. I think I like the Suellen Gregory one best, but it’s hard to decide.
forever a fan of Dutch delft tiles…..
Thank you- such an inspiration!
I adore the Delft “tulipieres” … Juliska makes a nice copy
So wish I had done the Delft tile in our weekend home on the West Coast, it would have looked wonderful with my Postal Blue kitchen cabinets as a backsplash. I have learned to go with what you truly love as you will always be happy with it. Thank you for your amazing blog, it is a highlight of my day!
Soooo much better than the ubiquitous subway tile! A true classic. Do you know that a favorite courtier of the Russian Emperor Peter the Great covered entire rooms in his palace in Delft tiles: http://thepeakofchic.blogspot.com/2014/01/inspiration-from-menshikov-palace.html. Apparently, it provides good heat insulation too, in addition to being pretty. But entire rooms (even bedrooms) covered in tile is a bit too much for my taste 🙂
Love, Love, Love each & every kitchen!
I have been wanting to put new counters and backsplash in my kitchen but still love my delft tiles, so after seeing your lovely kitchens I am keeping my delft backsplash and just getting new countertops.
Hi Joan,
A wise decision! This makes me so happy to hear! 🙂
