Dallas-based Jan Showers has been a long-time favorite designer of mine, so I was delighted to see new images of her beautiful country home – located in Hillsboro, Texas – in the latest issue of D Home. The author of Glamorous Rooms and Glamorous Retreats, Jan is indeed one of the most glamorous designers… It was once written that “A serene Grace Kelly in To Catch a Thief might have been Showers’ perfect client…” Her work seamlessly blends Hollywood high style, midcentury modernism, and classic 18th-century French styles with the local flavors of St. Barth’s, Paris, and Rome.
Jan and her husband spend most of their time in their Dallas townhouse, but they retreat to this 8,000-square-foot circa 1938 country home as often as possible. Let’s take a tour with images from D Home and Jan’s portfolio…

Beautiful, sunny , tranquil yellow decor. Well done! Ellen Easton
Those lucite drapery rods are the bomb! Love the terrace too. And I’m so pleased that they respected the paneling in the library and didn’t paint over it. They made it work beautifully. Wish more people had that restraint and understanding. Everything is well done and stylish. Very pretty house.
Live her use of wrought iron furniture. You don’t see that very much now but in her country home it looks fabulous. Bedroom so beautiful
I thought the same thing. Such a beautiful touch!
Lovely, just lovely…Jan Showers always creates perfection!
Reminds me of my Godmothers house when I was a kid in the 80’s. And her friends houses.
