In case you missed “Buattacon,” the two-day Sotheby’s auction of the late Mario Buatta’s estate, and the subsequent Buatta auction by Stair Galleries, not to fret. You can still shop for similar treasures on eBay! eBay is an amazing resource for antiquing, one of my favorites actually… you can almost always find anything your heart desires through this global auction site. Sometimes it requires a little digging and patience, but I have found so many treasures on eBay over the years. You can also set up a saved search so that any new items matching your requirements are emailed to you.
If you don’t already have a copy of the Sotheby’s auction catalogue for Buatta’s auction, there are a few available on eBay. And you can view the Stair catalogue online here. There were so many exquisite treasures from these auctions, so I decided to find similar options on eBay. We have been busy nesting in our new home, and now is the perfect time to go treasure hunting! Mario loved 19th century dog paintings, antique creamware, porcelain fruits and vegetables, Chinese porcelain and pagodas, and needlepoint. Below I have curated some eBay selections inspired by Mario’s auctions… some are fine antiques and some are less expensive vintage options.

This post was sponsored by eBay but all opinions are my own.

I snagged an antiques drawing of a cavalier king charles spaniel (I have two and collect decor items) from the auction. My first successful Sotheby’s auction! I’d bid previously on an Hermès desk clock owned by Lauren Bacall which went exponentially over estimate. For this one, we were driving from Virginia to NyC and I kept updating on my phone through the dead spots.
