Penny Morrison is one of my favorite English interior and textile designers, and this 19th century country estate she designed in Hampshire is an absolute dream. One of Morrison’s main tasks was to bring the house into the 21st century. She changed the flow of the rooms on the ground floor by transforming four small back rooms into an eat-in kitchen and creating a conservatory out of a courtyard. A soft, soothing palette was incorporated with punches of bright color for depth, and hand-painted and embroidered wallpapers from Fromental were installed in the master suite. Morrison designed deep, inviting sofas, built-in bookcases, ottomans covered in old suzanis and rugs, slipper chairs upholstered in antique Turkish fabric, embroidered pillows from Uzbekistan, and countless designs from her own textile collection. Let’s take a tour via Elle Decor 2014…

The English designers are fearless when combining patters – I counted 10 in the library photo! Penny Morrison is truly talented and I learn so much whenever I study her interiors. Thank you for sharing!
I want to stop in every room and admire the art.
Fantastic!! That’s why you are one of my favourite blogger. Thanks!!
So different and refreshing. I love how bold she is with her patterns, art and objets d’art. The english designers are very good at layering and it shows. I try to mimic this in my parlor/formal living but i dont interpret the scale properly. Penny Morrison has the scale, pattern play and color mix down to an art form.. thank you for featuring this. I saw her house on Quintessence as well and the video tour makes it all come to life. Just splendid!
