A Stately Manor House in Gloucestershire by Sean Symington

Written by Natalie Aldridge.

A manor house in the English countryside—what more could one ask for? At The Glam Pad, it’s the ultimate fantasy: endless green pastures, wildflowers, charming villages, and a rich history woven into every corner. Designer Sean Symington has captured that dream perfectly with his Gloucestershire project.

This Grade II listed Georgian manor, with its stately proportions and exquisite architectural details, was entrusted to Sean’s team for a full restoration to its former grandeur. Phase one saw the rejuvenation of the grand reception hall, drawing room, snug, and study, while the next phase is already in progress, with the ultimate aim of seamlessly revitalizing the entire estate.

The goal was to lay a strong design foundation, one that resonates throughout the house and sets the tone for each space to follow. And with a young family in tow, the clients sought to create not just timeless interiors but a home that feels effortlessly welcoming—like it’s been waiting for them all along.

What makes this home so special is not just its grand bones, but the thoughtful interior touches. With sumptuous fabrics, soft furnishings, and a tasteful sprinkling of cherished brown furniture and antiques, the manor feels warm and lived-in.

Sean’s work here is nothing short of an elegant balancing act, blending history, style, and comfort. After all, if you’re going to leave London for the countryside, it might as well be for a beautifully decorated historic manor in Gloucestershire.
