This magnificent entryway with its Dutch door and Zuber Views of North America wall coverings is one of my all-time favorites… I have posted it many times, so it was very exciting to discover a tour of the rest of this Colonial Revival! The stately 1920s New Canaan, Connecticut home was featured in the September 2014 issue of Connecticut Cottages & Gardens, and I was able to uncover additional images through the websites of the interior designer Paul Stuart Rankin and architect McKee Patterson.
This home has been in the same family for over 50 years, and great care was taken to make it suitable for modern life while maintaining the original integrity. Inside, it is full of so many of my favorite things… Lee Jofa’s Althea chintz, beautiful Delft tile, fine antiques, hand painted Chinoiserie wallpaper, and of course, the Zuber hand blocked wallpaper that welcomes you inside…
No doubt this Colonial Revival will withstand the test of time for the next 50 years! To read more, please visit Connecticut Cottages & Gardens. Photography by Tria Giovan

I’d move in and not change a thing! Perfect.
Such a lovely home! I’d prefer the living/sitting rooms to be a bit more “English” , but all in all, it’s just gorgeous. You had me at that entrance hall!
Definitely a classic. I agree with Cynthia on moving in and not changing anything.
Definitely a classic. I agree with Cynthia’s comments.
Beautiful house! It is odd though that in the last picture there is no path between the (back?) door and the stone steps.
This home is just absolutely gorgeous!
The wall coverings are exquisite. The entire house is a work of art.
As someone who passionately loves English country house style, I was enchanted by this home, which is so honest in a way that some overblown American homes decorated in a similar style are not. I would add a few more of those beautiful aged Oriental carpets and a boatload of antique Chinese porcelain, which I collect and without which a home for me seems empty. However, this is not my home and the owners have done a wonderful job of making it theirs. This is the first time I’ve ever commented on a blog and that should say something.
Dear Ingrid,
Thank you for taking the time to share your kind words! This home is a favorite of mine as well. 🙂
