In case you missed it, Le Mas des Poiriers, an exquisite 18th century farmhouse, was featured in the March/April 2019 issue of Veranda (which was a wonderful issue BTW!) You may recall I interviewed the owner, American expatriate Shauna Varvel, in 2017, and so I was delighted to see Veranda’s beautiful feature. In addition, Le Mas des Poiriers was featured in the April/May 2019 issue of Bride magazine, documenting the magical and romantic destination wedding of an American couple… The estate is available for private rental, weddings, and events.
For years, Varvel and her husband enjoyed spending summers with their five children in Provence. And in 2015, fate led them to purchase the 13,000-square-foot mas (farmhouse) which borders a pear orchard on an island in the Rhône River. Le Mas des Poiriers underwent extensive renovation by the esteemed Alexandre Lafourcade. Landscape architect Dominique Lafourcade transformed the gardens, and Susan Bednar Long redesigned the interiors using Pierre Frey fabrics exclusively. Every inch is perfection and true to the spirit of Provence… Images below are from Veranda and Bride (as noted), my 2017 interview, and from @provencepoiriers on Instagram.

Lovely article and beautiful gardens.
I think after looking at many houses and estates, this one is one of my favorites. The use of fabrics is supreme. The furniture is all so perfect. I would love to wake up in this home and walk around all day, and the next day explore the outside. I will save the Veranda issue that features this Maisonette, err farmhouse!
I’m in love with this house. Everything about it, in it, on it, around it. Everything! Every room, every detail, every fabric , every plant, every tree. Heaven on earth! Thank you for sharing it again! Even more pics to drool over! xo
I am drooling over every single photo!!! My favorite post from you so far! Wow. Wow. Wow.
The grounds of this house are amazing !! Très magnifique
What a stunning French farmhouse! Thanks for sharing! Carolina at Ironmongery Experts.
The Lafourcade team is never outdone. They are the best of the best. A visit to this most special place will live on forever in one’s memory. Madame Lafourcade’s genius hand is always deep into the earth of every project with which she undertakes.
I am a devoted fan!
The home and gardens are beautiful. Almost like a fairy tale. What a wonderful place for a wedding or just a destination. I long to walk through the rooms and just look at things long enough to etch them in my mind.
Hi Brenda,
Isn’t it magical?! One of my all-time favorite homes. 🙂

this is a beautiful house in a beautiful land but I hardly call it a farmhouse, never mind a french farmhouse. very elegant rooms, very warm and comfortable, but very much more elegant than a farmhouse.
