A Ruthie Sommers Home for Sale

I have been taking a little maternity leave from blogging. My sweet baby boy is six weeks old, and I am cherishing every moment with him! In my little spare time, I enjoy keeping up with Instagram. A few weeks ago, one of my favorite bloggers, Jenny with The Foo Dog Blog, posted a tour of this amazing home in Winnetka, Illinois, decorated by one of my favorite decorators, Ruthie Sommers. I have been obsessing over it ever since! The 1920s Tudor was originally featured in the January 2011 issue of Town & Country magazine, and it is now for sale. Jenny, a fellow real estate stalker, spotted the listing with her eagle eye, and it has left me dreaming of moving to Chicago's North Shore.

Because I simply cannot get enough, I decided to post the original Town & Country feature (images via Laura Casey) along with the listing images, and the pictures from Ruthie Sommers' portfolio. It is such fun to compare and contrast the subtle differences amongst them. Brace yourself for some eye candy overload... This home is absolute perfection!

Built in 1926, this 8,825 square-foot English country masterpiece features six bedrooms, seven baths, and sits on nearly one perfectly manicured acre. It is priced at $4.995M. To learn more about the listing, click here. And if you don't already follow The Foo Dog Blog, you will want to do so ASAP. Isn't this home divine?

  1. Wow. I have never seen so much chinoiserie in my whole life. But it's beautifully done. Delightful. Thanks for sharing.

  2. I flipped over it too.......just so fabulous! Hope you are enjoying motherhood and your sweet little new addition:)

  3. A beautifully decorated classic home!

  4. Wow! I remember that house ! So much care went into designing it - sad to see it being sold.

  5. Gorgeous! That was fun! Glad you and baby are doing great Andrea!

  6. Hi Andrea! I am happy to hear you and your sweet boy are doing well. What a lovely home - thanks for sharing. Have a great weekend! xoxo

  7. This home is so gorgeous! I love how it is so preppy and full of color. The living room with the bright yellow is pretty, but I prefer it with the calmer cream - you see the colors of the furniture more. When the walls are yellow, that's the only color you see.
I love how she uses wallpaper - the dressing room is so glamorous!

Thank you for your lovely comments. They absolutely make my day!
