In December I featured an elegant and timeless Dallas home designed in the early 1990s by Josie McCarthy and dressed in its holiday finery. Instantly, I fell in love with Josie’s classic style, and today I am sharing many of my favorite examples from her portfolio and press clippings.
Dallas-based Josie McCarthy Associates was founded by interior designer Josie McCarthy in 1980. Josie has a deep understanding of proportion and scale, texture and color, and a sense of place expressed in both Modernism and Classicism. With thorough knowledge of architectural details and the construction process, she works on projects large and small, renovation and new building. While Josie’s work is wide-ranging in style, it is always crisp and timeless. Her mastery of color, expertise in collecting and arranging objects, and her ability to seamlessly put rooms together have lent to her success nationwide. JMA clients range from California to New York, Florida to Montana. Projects include residences, offices, and country clubs.
These rooms represent a timeframe spanning from the 1990s – today… But I bet you cannot tell which ones are which! Josie’s work is the perfect example of why classic, traditional design is forever. Also of note, Josie worked several times with architect John Tackett, whose work I greatly admire. John worked with Parish Hadley and specializes in classic residential projects. For more, please visit Josie McCarthy online and via Instagram.
Thanks for the shout out. I am proud of these handsome projects in Dallas and Nashville with Josie. She has impeccable taste and a great appreciation of good architecture.

Lovely! Very talented. That marble bathtub! I’d give my eye teeth for that red japanned secretary. Love all the accoutrements in the bathroom with the Venetian mirror and green hydrangeas. And of course, all the chinoiserie paper. Very nice.
The chinoiserie wall brackets are too great for words!
I love your site always looking forward to it.
Thank you, Laura! 🙂
