A Traditional yet Quirky Old Home in Virginia

Based in Charlottesville, Virginia, designer Anne Altizer‘s trademark look is elegant and classic. She loves creating personalized interiors that stand the test of time. Case in point… her own home, built in 1931 by the celebrated architect Edmund S. Campbell, and loaded with charm. Traditional yet quirky, the windows are different shapes and sizes, there are roofs leaning random directions, and chimneys pop up from various locations.  To renovate and expand the home, Anne and her husband worked with architect Enoch Synder who described the home’s non-specific style as a blend of Old European, Continental, and Southern influences. Maintaining the home’s quirky charm was crucial to the project, and Anne’s beautiful, layered interiors create a gracious and welcoming environment. The surrounding gardens were already in place when the Altizers purchased the home, but Anne worked with landscape architect Rachel Lilly to further enhance their beauty. This home is truly an oasis!
